Marianne Dutton, PhD, JD
Marianne is a licensed patent attorney and experienced life sciences researcher who works to facilitate relationships between UCSF faculty and and industry partners in the fields of neurology and pediatric neuro-oncology.
Marianne began at UC as a researcher studying the molecular mechanisms of innate disease resistance, after which she remained at UC to teach general biology and manage a biochemistry lab course. After several years teaching at UC, Marianne left to pursue a law degree in Seattle, where she joined a private legal practice that focused on patent and trademark prosecution. Her experience in both bench science and patent law allows Marianne to work closely with faculty members to help navigate the various stages of industry collaboration, entrepreneurship, and commercialization.
